Title: Electric window regulators
Post by: rowlers on 27 April 2007, 21:04
Just had my door panel off to see if there was anything simple that was stopping the window going back up...

It looks like the glass is wobbling from the actual regulator and causing the window to jam. The motor doesn't ahve enough oommpphhh to get it back up without a bit of assistance!!

Does this sounds like I need a new motor and regulator???

They look pricey - any ideas wheres best to get them?? Also what others fit - if any? will 5 door regulators fit my 3 door as long as they are 90 spec?

Cheers

I had a similar problem, try using some form of grease (not WD40). Oil, or white spray grease.

Worked for me

The proper stuff to use on window runner rubbers is the chalk that you find in a puncture repair kit.. rub the chalk on to abrasive paper, to create dust, coat the rubber with the dust, job done!
Never use, sillicon spray, grease WD40, or any othe oil based product.. these will soften and expand the rubber, causing an early death to the regulator/motor components,

tried lubricating the moving parts - haven't done anything to the rubber parts though.
It hasn't really helped!
I'm not taking the door card off again untill I get new mechs - there is a few on ebay will give them a go!
