Title: Gumball Mk5 GTI
Post by: lamboman on 27 April 2007, 16:16
I remember seeing this white stripped out GTI at the Gumball.. Anyone have any stats about the car and what mods were done to it - e.g. weight savings from ripping the seats out etc?

Anyone else stripped their Mk5 and gained performance improvement?

One of the VW driver mags I read said that a stripped out MKV GTI would weigh closer to 1150kg.
Putting it into perspective you are talking of a weight saving in the range of around 15% and therefore a power to weight ratio of around 171 bhp/ton instead of the standard of around 146bhp/ton :nerd:

You would definitely see an improvement in performance with a stripped out version
