well i started the engine swap today but finding out that it aint so straight forward as all the info leads you to believe.
the 2E block was bare when i bought it so was planning to swap all my PB engine stuff over, so far i have found that the mk1 gti oil cooler i had fitted wont fit the 2E, the power steering pump bracket is fouling the altinator so i only have about 20mm of adjustment to tension the belt.
can anyone tell me if they have had these problems and how to overcome them as my car is in bits and i dont want it to drag on.
thanks guys

Have you got the 2e alternator bracket? Bolts on where the power steering bracket goes.
-
no, but i would need the mk3 altenator too wouldnt i? the block was bare so all i have is mk2 bits to put on. none of the 2.0l coversion threads say anything about this. they all say you just swap everything.
-
From what i was looking at on mine, to fit the mk2 alternator you still need the bracket that bolts on to the block, where the power steering bracket bolts on.
Now i may have this completely wrong, as i was just cross referencing it with other pics i had seen. Also, i don't have power steering so not 100% on the bracket set-up there!
Do you have any pics of yours in it's current state? Might help a bit!
