Can someone please point me in the right direction, my searches to date have revealed a lot of open ended questions and vague answers :undecided:
My central locking works fine when using the alarm remote fob to open/close all doors (Microscan Alarm) :smug: :smug:
If i use the key in the drivers door lock it seems to be turning the internals of the lock barrel (without the whole lock turnign in the handle recess) but nothing happens in terms of physical locking of any of the doors.
The passenger door is worse :angry: - turning the key results in the whole lock assembly turning, and pulling the key out brings the lock out with the key.
Any guidance much appreciated
Whilst the additional security ( :rolleyes: :rolleyes: ) is welcome, i will be knackered if the remote battery goes flat one day :embarassed: :embarassed:

You get a new battery for the remote mate! Simple. :grin:
Maybe its just a loose or broken wire somewhere. The central locking is pneumatic but driven by an electric pump.
So if you turn drivers door lock it should open/lock everything.

i've now registered with vagcat.com so now have the part numbers and drawings - hopefully its just a missing clip or two (fingers crossed), but knowing my luck it'll all fall out driving home tonight lol!!

Sounds just like what was happening with my locks not so long ago, turned out that the link rod that runs from the barrel to the locking mech has a hook on the end to connect and these had snapped.
If that is the case and your going to fix it with new parts from vw, you'll need new barrels to as the rods have been updated and the new ones will not fit the old barrel. Cost me £28 in total to do both doors, problem solved.

looked at the passenger door last night and the rubber seal and half the connecting rod, the spring, the retainer etc are missing.
drivers door seems to have most of it in place, but the connecting rod looks broken on the end .
there are soem repair kits on fleebay for £13 at the moment which will sort the drivers door which will do for me - might try ECP first on the off chance they still have something appropriate.

ECP don;t do the parts, and VW has changed the design now such that you have to change the lock barrel too.
SO ebay it was £13 from eurolocx.
So drivers door had everything bar the hook on the connecting rod - simply inserted the replacement rod and hey presto, a working door lock :smug:
Passenger door - drilled a hole through the broken connecting rod in the position where the hook part originally was. Used the spring and cam, from the rest of the repair kit, and then wired the old connecting rod through the newloy drilled hole to the hook on the back of the lock barrel.
So two doors fixed for the cost of one repair kit - in fact my wired version is probably a better fix than the brittle original design :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:
