Finally today I got back from work and decided whilst it was still light to replace my exhaust, so I jacked the car up, removed the Rear LHS Wheel and removed the old exhaust.
The best thing is the new one is just what I was looking for, it's abit throaty but.. it doesn't sound ridiculous and when it's idling / reving normally it doesnt sound ridiculous! I'm OVER THE MOON! WOOO!
Anyway.. here are some photos (turns out that the exhaust that was on there was actually a "StateSide Cherry Bomb" (no wonder it was so loud! LOL)
Anyway here are some photoz!

You'd best be careful about going too fast with them drum brakes !
-
lol - next thing on my list is disc brakes on the rear
-
ive actually heard that having discs does nothing for the braking on the rear anyway, its simply just a cosmetic feature..
your best bet is to upgrade the size of the front discs, get decent brakes and pads and get a mk2 servo..
and also its a mk1, so brake just that little bit earlier..
Dinx
-
I've never heard that to be honest, but it's supposed to make a difference if you also relocate the brake servo to the other side but is a b1tch to do.
-
thats cool. i'm thinkin of putting a new exhaust on Elvis soon but dont know what to get.
-
get a supersprint, or a miltek. i love my supersprint.
diane - brake a little bit earlier? crappy cabby stops real well... lol... altho my mates mk1 didnt stop that well with a TSR engine in it, even with upgrades i think!!! argh!!

Gibby read this.. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=8181.0
i was actually told about this off a mechanic though, sumone who owns and loves mk1s...so i just took his opinion on it...
Mine stops well, but compare it to a newer car and trust me..you learn to brake quicker..

my backbox is so buggered, it came off whilst on the motorway! (suppose thats what i get going to fast when I know i've only got plastic holding it on!
