I have noticed something.
My driver side wheel sticks out further than the passenger side. It is a good 6mm past the wheel arch, where as the other is dead level. its as if it has a spacer fitted but it hasn't. Why is this?? i hope it doesn't fall off.

check your wheel nuts!!
if its not that then u need to be looking at wishbones/front subframe etc...

car had any history of accidents?
as said in the post above, could be bent :undecided:
-
it has defiantly taken a shunt to the back, the rear panel where the GOLF Badge is, doesn't line up with the boot or tail lights.
As long as nothings going to come off and kill me i'm not to worried if its generally a bit out of shape. I'm going to have it up and wheels off to change the suspension springs soon so i will have a good look then.

got the same on mine - top of the driverside front wheel sticks out further - I only noticed it after I put new shocks on - I just figured the camber was well out - not got it sorted yet as i am swapping the springs soon...
DD

ahh rite well my new shocks and springs are going on this week so i will have all the geometry set up when thats done and see how it looks then.

get a proper 4 wheel alignemt, they be able to tell you if the car is bent simply by measuring the thrust angle of the car
-
cheers i will do that when my suspension is fitted.

Some factory shells came out like that. One side sits more about 10mm sometimes and is only apprent when you put bigger alloys on as the arches show up the differences in the ET.
It's something to do wioth the shell not sitting flush on the chasis at the factory quiet common.
There is someone who machines spacers to level them off CNC machined. More common on the MKII I'm asuming yours is a MKIII?
It's nothing to worry about if chamber and tracking have been set to compensate for any deviations, asthetically it will eat you up when your mates think you have an alloy bigger than the other. It shouldn't be more than 10mm if it is get it checked if your history is incomplete.

Hi. thanks for that info its really helpful! Yea it is a MKIII and Its deffo no more than 10mm. a few people have said how nice and wide the wheels are, so i'm not complaining. its fine until i turn the car around and it looks normal
