Hi, i have heard a few things here and there about the MK2 having speed sensitive volume control, and just wondered if the stories were true!?
If the mk2 does have it, where is the wiring located for it, and how does it work!? Would i just wire stuff to the speaskers or what?!
Cheers :)

Never hear'd fo it myself :undecided:

in the mk5 maybe..
or maybe it was to do with the aktiv system?

Alot of the modern Head units have this feature. There is usually a little hole on the front of the stereo with a mic behind it. It "listens" for noise and adjusts the volume to compensate. I have it on my Pioneer DEH-8600MP.

Have it on my pioneer too. Annoying as f#ck, so it's never switched on !

My mate has it on his BMW M3 - probably the most annoying thing to have in any car!! If I start driving fast I normally want to hear the engine - not have the tunes increase with it!! Just another gimmick I suppose...

I disabled it on my pioneer. It's in the audio options menu.

Hmmm, i was pretty sure i read somewhere it was in a MK2 golf! Probably just never used then!? Though, if its annoying as people say then whats the use

yes the MK2 does have speed sensitive volume adjustment, thats what the yellow/white wire on the stero plug is for. Its hardly ever wired in though, and certanly modern head units do not make use of this wire.
I have a feeling it might have been used on MK2s fitted with the aktiv system :)
