Title: MK2 1.6 Ryder - Exhaust question
Post by: EskimoBlue on 20 April 2007, 11:46
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I was unsure wether to post here or in the Garage section...

I want to improve the performance of my Ryder and I understand that replacing the exhaust system (including manifold) with a GTI one is quite common.

Now would it have to be a an original system from a MK2 GTI or would a new one for a MK2 GTI work just as well?

Where would be the best place to source parts in Leeds or West Yorkshire?

Any other tips/suggestions?

try the search mate, you'll need either a reducer pipe or a 8v gti manifold for the exhaust to fit

3 options, in order of simplicity and performance increase ;)

1. Get a reducer pipe and fit a GTI system to the 1.6 downpipe
2. Get a 1.8 carb downpipe & GTI system. The 1.8 carb downpipe bolts to the 1.6 manifold and ends up the same bore as the GTI system :)
3. Fit a complete GTI system including manifold & downpipe
