Title: Coilovers - advice needed!!
Post by: Northern Monkey on 19 April 2007, 20:43
Ive booked my car in to get the arches done, but need to get the coilovers on before hand. My garage can fit me in later on next week, so this doesnt leave me much time to buy my coilovers.....

So guys, which ones do you recommend?

I've kinda got my heart set on either Konigsport or silverline X...

Help me before I go mad!!

Cheers me dears
Becs Xx

either of those will be fine, the silverline x are just stainless bling versions of the konigsports, so all depends on your budget. mine have lasted realy well in the non-bling finish so far.

If I go down the coilover route then I reckon I'd go Weitec.

Do any of these coilover kits have adjustable shocks?

yeah both the ones northern monkey listed and loads of others. most brands offer fixed and adjustable damping in their range.... but i thought coilovers were just for show, or for the bling bling brigade len? :P

They are!

I have actually been thinking about them.
I am going to have to lower my car and I am thinking more of their practical application. In that I live in a town with loads of speed bumps and for driving around town would want a decent clearance but for a decent trip and to make the new body kit look right would need it lower.

But I have got some lowering springs and will try those first and see if I can live with the ride they give, but if not will go for coilovers with adjustable dampers.

Bought the Konigsport. Should be here in a few days. I cant wait. So excited I might even pee my pants.

Cheers for the help tho. Will get up a few pics once I've got them on and the car is clean

Right if you want to transfer coiovers or resell them after stainless is the way to go I have KW's and simply are the best bang for buck, had the same debate and post about this. After using spax and koni which are very good nothing beats the ride on KW V1's. Weitec are the same company, but not stainless £200 price difference I think, but hey you can sell the stainless ones and not lose too much cash. V2'&V3's have adjustable shock bodies, but for the money forget it.
If you are on tight budget springs and aftermarket dampers will suit, but nothing and I mean nothing is comparable to coilovers.
Hope that helps!
V1's are the nuts drifting is predicatable and well managed through Apex's like rails, can't suggest and recomend a better product in my book of fussy equipment.

Sorry fella your move too fast for me!
All is not lost until the day you decide to stick them a car and then you can see for yourself a difference in ride.
At the end of the day money doesn't grow on trees as they say!
