Title: How much ?
Post by: Kirklet on 19 April 2007, 18:08
Hello, just after a bit of info from you lot. Im after selling my L reg Golf GTi Mk3 5dr 8v, it's in good all round cond, no rust or rot, Indian Mettalic Red and has just sailed through it's MOT today and has 2 months tax left. 108k miles. Only bad points are a ticking/tapping reverse gear (gearbox otherwise slick as you'd want) and the rear electric window doesnt work, the belt inside has perished, window motor works fine. It was serviced 12 months ago and has been serviced regular by a VW dealer.

Just been offered 600 quid as it is. Is this a good price. Only selling because im after a Mk3 VR6 now :)

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Scott

hi mate,

im no expert but that sounds a bit cheap. I got my N reg 8v for £850, even with the usual stalling problem i thought it was a steal. I reckon you could get £800 easy, as long as you advertise it in the right place.

i used this when searching for mine, if i remember correctly its got bhps and 0-60 stats on it too. eat my 115bhp!!  :embarassed:

I was hoping for around 800 tbh, the only thing that concerns me is the ticking/tapping reverse gear. Is this a common fault with Golf's GTi's ? Obviously I'll mention it when i sell it. Im no mechanical expert, it's made the noise from the day I bought it, it's got no worse in 18 months. I just dont want to sell it on then have somebody ringing me up crying that the gearbox has exploded on them  Being the honest chap I am

Thanks for replies

Scott

Scott it's very common, my brother's P reg mk3 8v does it and we bought it in Sept 06 - it's done it ever since we got it.  Mechanic said don't hammer it in reverse and it will keep going.  Touch wood it has so far without any further deterioration..
