Title: GTI Running Cost
Post by: JamesT on 16 April 2007, 22:08
Hello,

Can someone tell me how much it costs to fill the tank up full? And the most miles you have got out of a tank full!

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

The GTI tank is a 55ltr tank so if you fill up with shell v-power or BP ultimate at roughly £1 a litre it will cost around £55 to fill up from empty. :nerd:

There was a recent thread on here regarding Fuel consumption and generally there were ranges from 300 to 380miles per tank, it all depends on how heavy your right foot is and your driving style.

I find that mines generally averages 35 mpg but if having a really canny run out of town it will average 45mpg, but thats a sunday  style run

you rarely have to fill the thing the right up unless you like running on fumes and picking up the cr4p from the bottom of the tank!?!? I've found with a range of 60-80 miles left it's costing £40 - £45 to fill her up.

Mileage wise I'm getting about 320 from the trip and thats all 70% motorway I would say.

It does depend on your right foot and I am quite light with it. As mentioned in anoher post, I wouldn't trust the "miles left"

The other day I :

1) Filled her up computer said range 350 miles
2) Pootled down to Chester and back (100 mile round trip almost)
3) After this trip the computer said range 370 miles!!!! GREAT!!!
4) Quick blast to B&Q (Dropped 85 miles in about 5 mile round trip

so... I think the car is a good all rounder, not many other 230bhp cars give 32mpg +

Thanks for your replies. Will be quite a big jump for me £ wise as my current car Pug 106 costs £33 to fill up and i get about 380 and i rant the b*gger!

Still, who cares about money! As long as you enjoy the car, thats all that matters!
