My mates just baught a really clean example scala and im helping him sort out the few mechacnical probs hes having.
Theres a red and yellow wire off at the front of the engine(near the dizzy), and im wondering where it goes.. Is this for the temp gauge as that isnt working. cheers if anyone has any ideas
-
ok we've now identified it doesnt have the original engine, but it has the mk1 1.6 gti engine in it. everything else is connect but the temp gauge. is it possible to hook it up?
-
temp guage wire should hook up to the sender on the head.... just a push on spade kinda thing???
not sure on colour long time since i had my last rocco
-
well as we now know its a mk1 engine, where would i find the temp sensor on that, and is it still a single spade connection?
-
yeah still single spade connection, should be on right hand side of head
???
-
just spoke to jas the guy whos got this rocco, and he took it to GSF today and they had a look at it with him, and theres no temp sensor in the head.. are there any hardcore mk1 people here that might know all the variations of where it could be ?

Was it oil or coolant temps?
Why not try and find a blanking hole on the head and just put a MKI typ one in and test what happens in the dash or stick it in another sender and watch the lights blink!
