Title: Petrol P*****G Everywhere !!
Post by: patch900 on 15 April 2007, 13:29
Filled up with petrol yesterday and went to pay on the way back to the car saw a puddle of petrol all round the back of my car, looked underneath and it was literally pissing out from the underneath near the petrol tank.

I have never seen this before and it definately doesnt happen when I put 10-20 quid of petrol in it (i.e not a full tank).

After freaking out for 1-2 secs threw a shed load of sand on it and drove the car home very carefully. Once I got home (only a couple of mins)  and the fuel gauge had dropped by about 1/4 the leak had stopped and it hasnt done it since.

Gonna book it in at the garage ASAP but wondered if anyone any clues what it could be, only thing I can think of is the tank is bust ? or a seal has gone ?

might be a crack where the filler neck joinds the actual tank.

If the gauge dropped by a 1/4 (down from full to 3/4) then you definitely have a hole in the side of your petrol tank!
