I'v been looking at my car and its too high. but the question is how low can you go without having any problems with speedbumps i don't go over lots but there are someplaces i go with them so don't want it to be a problem getting there. Was thinking Air bags so i could keep it low then pop it up for the speed bumps but too rich for me right now
So in short how low before i hit the bumps?
-
about 50-60mm.
-
so thats 60 to the gti or 40 to the gti as its already lower (just making sure) i'm sorry if i'm being dence
-
Well my old white one was on a 60mm drop from standard on a 16v, it only caught if i went over a speed bump too fast. So just slow down to about 10-15mph and you will be fine.
Mine had big bumpers and a deep chin spoiler on it too.
-
ahh cool thanks for that was thinking 40 so might just go to 50 play it safe but still nice looking and do you not remember being told to take them at that seep anyways :P
-
I got an audi now, big old thing, can take speed bumps at any speed, usually it's about 30-40.
-
my mums cars done that once :S i swear the bump grow out of no where i knew it was there after i'd passed it
-
my last mk2 was lowered about 100mm on 15s with 50 profile tyres with no archwork small bumpers with a 16v deep chin spoiler and didnt catch on many speed bumps.
-
someplaces are also keener on their bumps, ones in york are quite low-ish, altho there are 3 that are like moutains. but some places e.g hull haven't twigged that you can drive betweeen most of them ;)
-
i went 30mm at first but it didnt look right, gone 60mm now and i think i sits sweet as!
-
60mm is indeed the correct drop for day to day stuff but dont ya just want more?
-
yeah i do want more i want mine to almost touch by my work is surrounded by evil evil bumps unless i add like 20 mins to my drive and then there are lots of pot wholes i'll need 50 or 60 whats the best way to do it (money not too important but at same time i want to beable to buy petrol)

thats on coilovers, about a 70mm drop, but i cannot be sure, no way of telling really. its still 100% driveable, i seem spot on on speed bumps, even the big ones as the golf sits quite high underneath anyway.
