Hello all,
Im new here, my names James. Im looking to buy a lovely new GTi 3dr DSG very soon. I have a few questions though as i have never bought a car before! I will be buying from Motorprovider and not from the stealers.
I will be using finance so i have a few questions about that!
1) How quick does it take for the finance to be settled?
2) What is the best way to finance it? HP or PCP? I will be keeping the car for about 4-5 years.
3) Are motorprovider good for finance? good deals?
4) I live in Bristol so will i have to visit them in sheffield to sort out the deal or can i do it over the phone? Are they nice people?
5) What is the lead time from actually signing the dotted line and being ready to pick up?
Im still undecided as to what colour to go for. Im leaning towards Met Black but white looks nice and so does red! can someone with GTi's in those colours post them so i can decide :)

Here goes my effort on answering some of your questions, just my opinion btw.
1. Not quite sure what you mean here. Settle the finance when you sell the car, or how long to get finance to buy the car? Either way your best bet is to ask whoever you take the loan out with and they should give you an honest answer.
2. Personally I would go for HP as at the end of whatever term you decide to take the loan over, the car will be yours, unlike PCP where you will have a ballon payment at the end, which more than likely will be the value of your car. Also you will be limited by milage with PCP and the charges for going over are very expensive. However, PCP will generally give lower monthly payments so it all depends on how much you want to spend a month and how long you want to be paying the loan for. If you don't do that many miles and are confident you won't go over your estimate, then maybe look at PCP. Personally if I was financing a car I would still go with the traditional HP for the above reasons.
3. I have never dealt with Motorprovider so would not like to comment. I would recommend you search the internet though for personal loans as these generally provide better rates than dealers and there usually arn't any hidden charges like at the dealers. Also they usually give you an answer straight away over the net. Provided you have a good credit rating, all the major lenders should give you a quote.
4. I would always pitch up at the dealer for a face to face, IMO you have a better chance of getting a good deal and can also put your point across better than on the phone. Never trust dealers as they're out to make as much money as they can from you.
5. Again, dealer dependent, best to ask them that question.

HI James - welcome to the site.
I have seen a really nice black GTI at the Peterborough Motorpoint. Not sure if it was DSG but was around the 19K price mark. The interior was set up just like an Edition 30. I had to double check if it was a Edition 30, then saw that the car had the Monza wheels so knew it was a standard GTI. Looked very nice and I believe 1500 pounds +++ under the retail price. That was about 3 weeks ago so may well have sold now. Good luck in your hunting.

Is it best to get finance from say people like motorprovider/motorpoint ? I assume its easier to organise finance through them. I def think i will be getting black although the midnight grey looks quite nice.

As I said previously, I would look at a personal loan on the net from someone say Lombard Direct or Alliance and Leicester. Best best is to try moneysupermarket.com. They will give you the best rates from whichever provider. The other advantage of a personal loan is that it isn't linked to the car you will be buying, so if anyone does a credit check on your car it will come up clean. :grin: Believe me, it couldn't be easier than doing it on the net from a major lender. They will do the credit check in seconds.

I have had a look at a personal loan and i think it sounds like the best method. How long does it take to receive the loan? Sorry if these are stupid questions but i dont have anyone to ask :(

a personal loan should be pretty swift to arrange - all depends how quickly you can sign the loan paperwork - the loan providers should be able to get you the money within 2-3 business days by various methods

That looks so nice in white :laugh: Only problem with white is the dirt shows up a lot more. Can anyone show me a grey colour not silver? I think black is still winning but i that white looks nice and i bet it looks even better in the flesh. Thanks for the picture phope? Where did you get that from? if you dont mind me asking :rolleyes:

I ordered my own spec from Motorprovider on 1st February. (5dr, DSG, Leather, Armrest, Parking Sensors)
It's now 10 weeks against a quoted 12-14 so it's not late (yet?)
I didn't visit as there seemed little point in doing so, my car is built to order so nothing to go and see. I paid deposit on a credit card so I'm covered with their insurance.
I'll let you know how it goes.....

honestly, black will show the dirt more than white!

White does stand out which is good but black is just slick. Is there just once choice of white? Candy White? There are several blacks available - Black, Diamond Black & Black Magic. Is there much difference? Which is the best to have for obtaining the best shine.

I should of been a bit clearer. Ive put deposit on it - reserved it as im going to be paying for it in full on thursday or friday. :smiley:

That still counts as agreed to buy it in my book. I'd of done all the negotiations before putting a deposit down.

Well they say that a reservation deposit is to take the vechile off the forecourt for 2 days for me to come down there and have a look and decide if i want to buy it. Im sure i can get some money off.
