Just got to wait 12 to 16 weeks now for delivery!!
The wait will kill me

Welcome to the madhouse....errr...forum
Yes, I kid you not, the wait will be agonising - but worth it
-
Welcome and congrats on your potential new motor, grey is a fantastic colour for the GTi.
12 weeks is a killer, but be brave.
-
Nice choice of colour and spec, and believe me the wait is a killer. Been waiting since mid Jan , but the cars now in the UK, so hoping to see it in the next couple of days.
BTW, did you think about getting parking sensors? Not saying your a bad driver, just that its a popular option.
-
I've only been waiting 6 weeks so far, and I'm pulling out what little hair I have left!!
You need to phone the dealer and add an arm rest to your order!
Its a must have, and for £115 it looks much better!

Mine was ordered on 21st Feb.
Few weeks to go yet. The wait is killing me.

I have had my grey GTI 5dr for a fortnight now and its superb!, sorry you still have to wait.
I was going to order an import , when I saw the grey UK one at my local dealers, ex demo (business managers!) < 2k grey, 18" alloys, full leather, multi function wheel, winter kit, ipod and reverse parking sensors, for 4 K less than new.Didnt take much persuading not to go for the import even though i would have saved 1K.
Having owned a 2003 civic type R and then a 2004 BMW 320D sport, the golf is Sooooo much better
excellent choice!
You will Love it, looks very good in grey.

I did consider the arm rest and parking sensors, however I recon the retro fit jobs I have seen on here are a better option financially.
Not sure about the armrest though, is that an easy retro fit?
Never mind only 15wks and 4 days to wait max
Not that Im counting

You can retro fit the armrest there is a guide on here.

The arm rest costs more to buy than it does as a factory install... not to mention the huge pain in the ass to fit it!
I think its about £200 for all the bits from your Stealer - or more from some folk on eBay.
-
Called the dealer back and added in the armrest
Godd decision I think
-
Definately a good move!

Welcome Henspeed,
The wait for my Ed.30 was worse than the 9 months wait to have my kids but at least the car won't answer me back ! and i love all the comments about the Civic Type R which i gleefully go to work and tell a collegue daily as he owns one.
