Title: My First VW!

This is my Mk1 Gti with full BBS kit, kent cam, ported polished, four-branch manifold, 2.2 Audi throttle body. Thinking of changing the whels, any advice? Cheers, Joel

Nice, I also have throttle body, manifold / supersprint stainless system :)

As for the allys def get rid of em, Plastic 5 spokes are nasty - I used to have some and you'll appreciate your mk1 so much more with a nice set of rims!

I reckon some 14's, say 6-7J wide, deepdish and get em powder coated black maybe with a lighter carbon grey colour on the inside of the spokes, would look awesome!

I'd personally go for some black/dark colour alloys rather than silver, but thats just me :)

cool, i like the BBS kit.

my mate has a cab lowered 60mm running 13x8 alleycats, it looks wicked!!!

That's a wicked mk1. :cool: Deffo needs change of alloys though and a bit of lowering. I use five spokes on my Rallye as winter wheels only as I just don't like them much at all and they were on it when I bought it, so deffo recommend a wheel change.

I disagree there I'm afriad, keep the kit on as I think it suits it. You don't see that many mk1 tintops with decent kits on, but it's your car so do what you feel's best.

i wouldnt have the kit, but i do like it with it on. I dont like those wheels you photoshopped on it, think theyre too new. ATS classics and a damn good drop will look great!

PS, nothin wrong with cups, especially not on black mk3's!

Ok thanks for the replys not sure what wheels I will go for yet but I know all your opinions on the "plasic 5 spokes"!!! Better bin them!

looks nice mate, i like the kit, maybe get the bumpers coloured coded?? :undecided: as for rims its up to you! i think the turbos would look good on it!

^i think id agree with rob there about the colour-coding..or at least get sum kiwi polish on it to brighten it up :wink:
just have a gud check under your arches where you can for possible rust..as water likes to hide behind kits and what not...the evil bugger..
wheels..deffo get rid of the five spokes..
have a looksee on www.dubmeister.co.uk ..they do sum nice wheels

i agree. alloys arent that bad but at least it has them! i'd get some ronal turbo's. depends on how original u wanna keep her. i've got 1979 mk1 gti alloys on mine in black.

I have decided against the wheels I photoshopped and now bought some BBS split rims to keep the retro look. The wheels are off a polo GTi so are a bit more modern but still have the old skool look. As for the kit I think I will keep it on as now I have BBS wheels too they will go wel together. I have checked under the arches drivers side is fine and passengers side is starting to rot a little so I have ordered a new arch panel (I enjoy welding) I am going Run to the sun end of may are ne of you guys going?
