Title: EVOMS grating noise....
Post by: RedRobin on 12 April 2007, 16:48
I had a ride in a VRS Octavia yesterday with EVOMS air intake plus Forge DV and spacer and Stage2 Revo. The EVOMS is well made and the box design around the V-filter very clever but simple. The V-flow filter also looks very high quality.

The Skoda has the same 2.0T FSI engine as the VeeDub Mk5 GTI.

Sounded great with the windows down and nothing like as noisy as I expected. But.....What's the grating sound when the windows are up? I've read reports about it elsewhere and it's clearly not a fault but it's just not a reassuring type of noise to hear! Does anyone know?

Thanks

So I assume by the lack of replies that no-one here even knows what an EVOMS air intake is.

Is this a quiz?

I'd assume it's the noise of the vacuum being generated by the Venturi at speed. Does it get louder with mph and/or engine speed?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I only experienced it in an Octavia VRS but the owner didn't know what the sound was and wasn't bothered anyway. Was only audible at lower speed/revs. Since posting here, others on another forum have said it happens when a Forge spacer is also fitted, as was the case with the Octavia.
