Title: Clutch labour time?
Post by: Mart8V on 12 April 2007, 14:03: Any idea how much this is going to cost me? Will buy the part myself (Sachs!) and supply but time is tight so need to pay someone to do the job. Too busy getting the bloody thing thru MoT!!

Post by: chrishodge06 on 12 April 2007, 16:58: its not a hard or long job to do at home but if you really dont want to do it keep looking around a small back street workshop would do it quite cheeply just get a agreed price first i was quoted Ã‚£160 supply and fit in the end i done it my self first time took about 5 hours with t and fag breaks :wink:

Post by: jaybv6 on 17 April 2007, 14:13: How easy is easy? I've got an 8v Digi and need to change the clutch. I'm tight and don't want to pay anyone to do it. Any tips for doing if from home. what's the best method as the gearbox looks quite tight near the left hand chassis section?

Post by: Agreeable Slick on 17 April 2007, 18:18: fairly easy, unless you have powersteering.

It's just a case of undo all the bolts, and the driveshafts, then once they are out, you need to twist and lift the box to get it out, although with PAS all the pipes tend to get in the way and make it a bastard to do, when i did mine i was standing there with a gearbox on my shoulder for half an hour whilst my mate made a path for us to get it out.
