hi all, i tried to use my air con the other day, but it didn't work :embarassed:, there was no change in temp. it was on the cold setting (knob twisted all the way left). is there a relay for this, i'll start here first. i had it charged up about 2 years ago and it was fine. any help would be great.
Thanks

Did you hear the clutch click in? Check that first if it does then your system has a leak and it needs re-charging.
Find a good specialist in your area. We have one around here that will come to you. Sure you will find something similar in your area.
-
what do you mean about hearing the clutch click in??
today i tried it again, but nothing. the haynes manual said that the air con relay is number 13, so i took that out and ran it (it has 147 printed on it) and there was no difference. It also said that relay 12 has something to do with the air con, but i can't find that relay. The revs still go up when the A/C button is pressed. i'm at work now, a guy is gonna test the relay for me, to see if it's that...

the relay's good, gonna do what you said Len, get it re-charged.

There is a clutch on the air-con compressor. If you are staionary with door or window open you should hear a click when you switch on.
But as you say the revs go down its obviously working so nothing electrical.
So yes you will have to get it recharged.
The guys that do my cars put in a dye first to trace any leaks, I would ask for that to be done.

Be aware that you may not notice too much of a difference unless you have recycle on .
-
I never use recycle! Mine comes out freezing with vent open!
Think you should get yours checked to adyh!
-
I tried mine the other day, first time the weather had been warm enough to need it
Mine didnt cool down either, cheers for the info Len will have it checked out.

i've found a mobile service £50 for a re-charge, £60 for re-charge plus system test. i'm going away till next weds, so i'll get it done when i get back.
also, noticed that kwic fix are doing it now, but not sure if they test the system
-
I wouldn't trust kwik fit with my car. There all a bunch of useless cowboys
-
^^^^ Agreed!
Thats a good price kris - last time mine cost me £80 for a test and recharge.
-
i'll let you know how i get on next week, hope it passes the test, don't wanna have to replace anything
-
got it sorted today, the guy checked the pressure, there was none. he put the dye in and re-charged the system. there were no leaks . he came and done it on my drive, cost me £60.
i'm cool again now!!!!!!

Notice in Halfords yesterday that they now do a recharge with the dye for £49.95.
