Car has been running fine, I was driving her down to the garage to get a new cambelt fitted when she suddenly cuts out at a red light whilst idling (at this point I must add she had been idling & running fine until being presented with this red light @ when I suddenly realised she was idling @ 3K!? - i touched the brake pedal whilst still and the harder i pushed the brake pedal down the more it seemed to be limiting the revs (ie forcing it down..)
I suddenly feared the worst and figured the cambelt had snapped - not the case - all still perfectly intact, engine looks normal, running very cool, no leaks. I check the cables arn't trapped or caught.. not the case.
I then found that my positive battery connection was quite loose so i retightened it, i went back to start her up and nothing.. still isn't turning over.. just all the ignition electrics come on.. lights, immobilser, heater, windscreen wipers all work.. so i ask my passenger to turn the key in the ignition & test if there is a spark - nothing at all
Dad reluctantly came picked me up and towed me down to the garage I use, so she's now with them havint it sorted / cambelt put on.
(cambelt was fine by the way).
Anyone had this before or heard of similiar? - Lucky i've just got a new job otherwise i'd be f*cked!
*Pray for her*

its sounds like what i've been having sorted.
fuel not getting to the injectors. in process of changing fuel pump, had filter done.
something to do with it evaporating before it gets to injectors maybe?
hope you get sorted. she'll start perfect when she's cold!

Thanks, will let you know what happens. Funnily enough the service I did recently I was very close to replacing them with uprated brass mercedes injectors.. but decided not to as it ran fine. : /

mine runs fine. altho she's never cut out.. just refuses to start if recently stopped.... so maybe not the same.
-
Well I should know within the next few days and will let you know, if you could do the same.. be interesting to see what causes we both come up with.

it'll be a while before i get ehr sorted lol. im not the most efficient apart from at cleaning

Well running my MK1 has been costing my an arm and a leg since I got her, but that's because although asthetically pleasing she was in abit of a sorry state when I got her..
Now i have a part time job 600 notes a month ontop of a student loan - this is my spending money for the mk1 so should have her sorted soon.. hopefully its not a new engine jobby..

this link may help you all on understanding the fueling side of K jet set-up... also remember your braking system is connected to your injection vacuum system, thus why when you brake the idle will drop. I will find the other useful link I use alot of troubleshooting engines not firing up...

Apparently it's because my alternator wasn't charging properly and so it drained the battery and died at the lights because of that. They charged the battery and have sorted the alternator & have put a new cambelt on for me.
