£30 fine for my german plates  annoying but hey, i've been running them for 3 years so i guess i was due it. more annoying that the copper had zero sense of humour!
-
lol i got one of them last month for not having number plate at all
-
some of them are miserable thingys arent they!
well you had some good innings with them on with out a fine, 3 years is more than most people have lasted with out caution.

tru tru... im not into that funky spacing stuff, just fancied german ones as the font looks
the plates ive got on at the moment have an illegal font, and the font one is a tad small, but havent had any grief around here *touchwood* so will hav to see when i get some more money on the scene!
-
tough break, there - but at least it is just a fine and not points. I've got black and white ones on my bug, and have heard they cannot be read by cameras -anyone else heard this? (not that my beetle is going to breaking speed lmits any time soon)

^^^ ha ha you knows it!
i tried the "i went to a show at the weekend" thing and when he asked if i had the proper set in the car i said no... because i didn't! i haven't had a legal set for about 2 years! anyway i ordered some of the uk font pressed plates with no funny spacing or 'D' band so they'll do i guess.
one thing they did say which is something i've never thought of, although i doubt it happens often, was that if there was a hit and run or something and a whitness said it was a german car they could end up wasting time and money looking for a german car at ports etc. never thought about it like that always just think of getting done for traffic violations etc.
ahh well you live and learn!

from wat ive been told / read, its not the colour that causes the problems, its the font....
according to a copper friend, there is a push to fine people with illegal font cause some of them cant be differentiated between and the automated camera, which get a notice sent direct to the person involved, get confused and give false readings!

I don't buy that one. Imagine this,
Cop:"So madam, did you get the registration plate"
woman:"yes, yes I did officer, it was a German style number plate registration number J123 ABC"
Cop:"thank you madam. To all officers, be on the lookout at the ports and airports for a german car registration number J123 ABC"
gibby:"What a load of old b0llocks !"

Are all coppers today so easily fooled? Dont they have to pass an entrance exam anymore?
