i have just moved from lincolnshire back to Runcorn in cheshire and have found out that due to me moving, my insurance company (tescos) have decided to pump my premium up by ?190 for the remaining 8 months of my cover period, does anyone know of any firms that could be of interest to me so i can save some pennies (i have tried direct line, churchill and the co-operative who have quoted me from ?700 to ?1200)
I am 26 with full no claims and no convistion so did not expect to be hit so hard just cos i have moved!!!!!
Thanks

Hello,

Good luck

elephant.co.uk
-
cheers lads will give them a go in a bit ;)
-
elephant.co.u are quoting me ?750 fully comp thats ?300 more than when i was in lincolnshire :o
-
if you try and cancel your existing insurance they'll probably charge you a hefty wedge also, so it might be an idea to accept the ?190 then look for another company after the 8mths is up
-
i'm paying around 700 quid (fully comp, parked off road.. not in the best area of town..) at the moment.. but thats only because I upgraded from my last car part way through the policy, so didnt get much choice.
i'm 28 and am in pretty much same circumstances... i'm with privilege (tescos/privilege + direct line have the same unwriters but differ slightly in their target markets)
from what i've been hearing try tesco's.
if you have a wife/kids/own home then someone like AA or norwich union may give you a better quote as they cater for that kind of market (apparently)

my insurance when i moved from skegness (PE peterborough postal area) to where i am now (LN lincolnshire postal area) my insurance dropped by ?100, so the moral of the story is when you want cheaper insurance move to a cheaper area!!! lol ;D ;D ;D and i only moved 18miles!! not a bad saving that!!! ; :P
-
Because I my house is actually in Scotland (even though I rarely ever get there) my insurance comes in at ?250 FC Protected NC, even with 6 speeding points.
Cant get much cheaper than that ;D ;D
-
wish my insurance was only ?250
-
mr wotto try looking in some of the vw magazines some of them do quite good deals :)
-
cheers gti89, will have a look tommorrow, getting well p****d off with the amount my insurance is costing me now
-
For all you MK 1 and 2 owners I'd suggest getting a classic policy (cars over ten years). You may have to limit your millege but you'll definately get a good price. Try Footman James or Adrian Flux.

Vixter - what are your details for insurance? I assume thats on a cab? That is really cheap, mine is ?250 FC protected No Claims. in the cheapest insurance area
-
Also give Liverpool Victoria a try. They will do upto 10 mods free of charge, providing you do not increase cc. You should phone rather than get their online quote for the best rates.

sorry adam, i didnt mean my quote was ?200 ( i wish) just that they got it down by ?200.
Your quote beats my golf cab insurance by a million miles

TRY Adrain Flux they have a web page and are supposed to be the cheapest for performance cars. I'm with tesco and pay 900 they said they'd do it for 600 but i'll have to wait until june before i can change over.

Admiral are pretty good, judging by what everyone else has said. Got a Mk4 1.8 GTI, and pay about ?600.
I'm 23 with 2 yrs no claims, and I keep it in a garage in an alright area nr Watford. ;D
