ÃÂnteresting and a little suprising as I thought the Jetta was a heavier car. A friend of mine has a ´88 Jetta GTX 16V. I could out excelerate him in my 8V digi Golf up to about 100km/h (60ish), :smug: but then he would come flying past all the way up to 200plus km/h (125ish) and some. Mine ran out of puff at 195km/h. (115-120) :undecided:
-
that is bizarre....Jetta would be slightly heavier, only thing possible is the driver!!!
jetta would handle better though, more rigid car than the golf due to the fixed panel behind the rear seats in the jetta!!
-
Were both cars 90 spec, or was the jetta a pre 90 and the golf a post 90 or vice versa?
Did they both have PAS, aircon etc all these things make a difference ;)
Plus there were different inlet manifolds fitted depending on the year, 42 or 50 :)
Edit: was the same person driving, what about the temperature on the day, road conditions etc etc

That panel isnt what makes the difference, its the fixed rear screen and the chassis around the boot, the tailgate hole on a Golf is huge compared to the Jetta ;)
-
Jetta uses different ratios in g/box.
-
are you sure?
-
cant see any other box listed for jetta 16v other than the 2y, which is the same as the golf 16v ;)
-
Does my jetta 16v do 0-60 in 7.1 secs?
does it fcuk!
-
i would expect them to be roughly the same 0-60, maybe the golf slightly quicker but will probably be all down to the driver.
Reading this i was tempted to get a jetta box for mine

haha my golf did 0-60 in 6.2 seconds last time i checked.
