I wanted to have and LED come on with the ignition so I hooked it up to the switched live (from ignition) to the radio and a ground - which worked. But somewhere along the line I must have touched some wires wrongly and it no longer works - which means the switched live to the radio doesn't work anymore - also I've noticed the buzzer for the lights still sounds when the door is open and the ignition is on, which it wouldn't usually. I assume there must be a fuse blown somewhere - but all the fuses in the fuse box are OK.... any help would be greatly appreciated!!

hmm, unfortunatley, i would be inclined to say your ignition switch may be faulty, have you noticed anything else at all? like the head lights not working or the passenger compartment fan also not working? my friends went on his mk2 and he had no wipers or any of the above, depending on the car though these may work differently.

Everything else is working as usual - wipers, headlights, interior lights etc... only the switched live to the radio and the lights buzzer that aren't as usual...

Had something similar in that my stereo feed went (ignition on only) and my headlight buzzer stopped working. I did a perm live connection to the H/U and all was back to normal.
So I would agree with Tom, something to do with the ignition switch.

Thanks for the replies, it seems you were right! I took a chance and went down to my local Lookers who had the switches in stock.. after much reading on here I decided that going the airbag route would probably be too hard due to the need for a fingered puller. So I decided to take out the steering column... a few bolts later it was out and replaced. Fixed!

fairplay, yeah airbags can be a right pain, the switches themselves are pretty cheap arnt they, its the fitting that can be a problem! fairplay for taking out the whole column!

Yeah it was £21 which wasn't too bad altho seemed a bit steep for what it was! But nevermind, i don't care as long as it works...

thats not too bad a price, be thankful it wasnt the whole barrel or something, had to replace the one on my old renault, never again!
