Could someone please explain how to remove the cambelt cover? - I've never done it on a mk1 and want to do a cambelt change and whilst i'm at it clean all up & colour code them along with the rest of the engine bay.
I also need to remove it as my Alternators Expansion bracket has snapped - i've taken one half of it off and have smoothed it all down but now require the other half which is mounted to the engine (and you cant remove it without removing the cambelt cover).
Any photos / intructions would be greatly appreciated as i'd like to make sure i do it right :)

guess you already have the top half off?, to remove the bottom section, you need to remove the crank and intermediete pulley wheels held on by 4 and 3 5mm allen head bolts. After that i believe there's 2 10mm head nuts to remove and thats it. Before you remove the cambelt, use some tipex to mark the position of all 3 pulleys as the notches on the pulleys your supposed to go by are not always correct as i found out when i replaced the belt on a 1.8 pb engine.

The top section is metal, held on by 2 10mm nuts which hold the left side of the rocker cover down aswell and a 5mm allen head nut on the side. Easy peasy man
