anyone know if mk1 gti rear shocks are the same as on a mk2 gti????

Yes I do and they're not. bought a set for "Mk1" on ebay.  They were for a mk2.  More beefed up.  scrape the arches, rub the tyres.  Generally not good.  They went on though, only to be taken off 2 mins later.
