Hi Guys
new to this forum, but need some advice with a mk5 gti not starting.
Two weeks ago unlocked the car, put the key in the ignition and turned and nothing happened, no noises only thing that came on was the ignition lights and mfd. Called the vw assist and they couldn't find the fault but could start the car by shorting the starter solenoid. Car was in the garage for 6 days and eventually returned saying that a new electronic module had been fitted in the steering column. Everything ok until today when the same thing happened, tried it a doven times with the same result, went inside and called vw assist again, 1 hour later when rac came guy got in and it started no problem.
So has anyone else experienced this? If so what can be done, as I now have a car that I have no confidence in starting.
Also on another note is the compartment near the ignition key lined on your car or just shiny plastic, I only ask as I was sure it was lined when I bought the car but it's not now? (swopped at stealers??)
