how do I know when/if they need replacing?
I assume it is trial and error - i.e. if new seals don't hold the injector in steady - time to assume that the inserts are sh@gged???
any other issues if using merc injectors?
cheers

I just redone my injector inserts and O-Rings and it wasn't too bad a job but then again I was sat on the living room floor! I imagine on the car you'll struggle to do it. Those inserts are brass and to be fair mine were just grubby and looked a bit fooked. it's the plastic holders that can cause problems as they can go brittle and break up after a bit. new injector o rings and then try them :) don't forget the little O-rings for the bottom of the injector :)
When I put my injectors back in I was amazed at how hard you had to push to get them to sit properly a bit of spit on the big O-ring helps things along nicely :)

aye its the plastic bits I was concerned about..
do they halp seal the injector in - what purpose do they serve?
cheers

Lee they do help if you use std VAG injectors. If your using the Merc ones which we were speaking about then they dont help at all unless you chg the end over from the VAG to the merc I think they call it the top hat as this is what your 2nd oring sits on.
Done my merc ones last night without changeing over the top hat and its 100% as a lot of people do it this way I cant see u should have any problems..
