does any one know wot is the best 2ltr bottom end to use in a mrk2 16v ,i was thinking of getting a corrado bottom end and fitting new piston rings, also will it bolt straight in and will i be able to use my 16v head,..cheers for any replys..... :-\

mk3 16v ???, dunno

The 9A is the best one to use as it is the same height as your current KR and you wont have problems.
The KR head can bolt straight on. If you do keep the 9A head on it make sure you swap the cams as the 9A cams are very mild compared to the KR ones.

Modulater is bang on, use the 9A block with your head. Use the 9A head gasket and your clutch-flywheel will bolt straight up to the crank.
Steve.

thks for your advice lads,i take it the 9a is a corrado engine,is the number stamped on the block anywhere,as i will be searching the scrapyards ......ive got a couple of fast road kentcams to put in the head,or do you think i should stick with the kr cams....i know the kentcams wont give as much torque but 2lt should compensate for this i think any1 done this conversion

9A is also found in the Passat,
cheaper than a Corrado and same engine ;).
Code is on the timing belt cover or in the boot on a sticker.
Good engine ;).
Can't say about cams.

Stick with the KR inlet cam, as the 9A one is cat friendly.

I would run it with the KR cams for a while, then swap to the kent fast road cams and see which driving style you like best.
You can always swap them back.
