Here's some pics from my recent Track day at Abingdon with Motorsport Events. My car finally got through the noise regs at 95.1 dB. These are just some pics from the Paddock area but as soon as I get the video footage off DVD I'll post a couple of clips of my car going round, especially the one where I had flames coming from the exhaust.

looks like there was a wide selection of cars there. what did you think of your mark 2 on the track? discover anything that needs to be improved or fettled with?

The experience was better than I imagined and all the work I put into it was worth it. The brakes held up well and took some serious punishment as did the engine.
After the first half the day it was very clear that I needed to sort the suspension out. On most corners the inner rear wheel (dependant on the corner) was nearly 6 inches off the floor. Due to the height of the suspension, speed in the chicanes and corners could not be carried well enough to keep it pinned. I was able to compare my car with my mate's that is lowered byt around 60mm and he could get on the brakes later and handle the corners alot better than I was able to.
Regardless to what people say about rear strut braces I noticed the difference with it fitted and could feel it working away in the corners.
My clutch was also quit heavy (was to begin with) so I need to change it. I struggled to get 2nd on the down changes and it cost me dearly in the chicanes.
The engine was the surprise of the day. Considering I only got the MOT 2 days prior to the track day and Tax the day before I hadn't run the engine after the head refurb. However it was very torquey low down in the range and flung the old girl very briskly up to 100mph without much effort. i was managing 95mph on the bits of straight that were there.
So things that need doing before the next one are
a) new clutch
b) adjust linkage (I had been messing with it the day before to allow me to get 5th and may have over adjusted it ;))
c) Drop the car at least by 40mm if not more whilst also replacing the shocks.
That should make for an entertaining outing next time.

cool, well its all about trial and error.
I have heard good things about lower front strut braces too as well as the upper ones, supposed to make the turn in abit sharper.
