Title: ED30 Mud flaps
Post by: DeejayGti on 16 March 2007, 12:12
As usual VW have done their normal thing of not supplying mud flaps for their cars. This time its the ED30.
It was the same problem with the old R32 and then the current Gti. Eventually they made them for the Gti but I guess that was down to numbers. I guess therefore as there are only 1500 ED30's in the uk then they wont bother.
Can you get them for the current R32?

Does anyone know what I could do about getting some aftermarkets? Is anyone is planning to make some up themselves?
Could they be available in Germany?

I saw an ED30 in local dealer with the front flaps fitted only. I assume they fit although they dont show as fitting on the parts screen.

The front flaps will be the same for the GTI, the Ed30 and the R32.  The rears, well all three bumpers look different, though the R32 and the Ed30 do look a little more similar!

Just to protect the sides of the car from stones/grit etc.
Also keeps it cleaner!

has any one got any pics of there Gti with the front flaps on? I am with the view that you should have these one, esspecially in the winter months as it really does keep all the crap off the sides of your car!

If they are just plain smallish black ones they don't look to bad, it is just thoese horrid big red and blue sparco things you see on other cars that are just

Mine has them on here but I think they are less pronounced on the GTi as the are the same colour as the lower bumper.

They look ok, did you get them fitted by your stealer and how much were they mate??

They are £60 to buy and £60 again for VW to fit. Thats for all 4. I believe they are available in front/rear pair. I have seen them on ebay but at the same price as VW.

I told my dealer i'd take them supply only, but they screwed up and fitted them for me. So I paid £60 for all 4.

They look Ok but I got them for the protection side of things.

I personally would not bother with the back ones, but I don't think the front ones look to bad. After all they are there for protection and allthough they do not look fantastic I would much rather they where then having my sills and the bottom halfs of the doors covered in chips etc!

Asked my dealer a few weeks back about mud flaps for my Ed.30 ( reason being i live on a farm with a messy driveway) was told they won't be making any to fit Ed.30.

As I said in reply #2, the fronts from the standard GTI will fit.  Regarding the rears, well trot along to your local stealer, and ask them to get a set of R32 rears out of a box, and actually try them for size on your Ed30.  I had to do the same thing for the rears on my S4 (the standard A4 fronts fitted, but none fitted the rear).

Cheers for that T.T. don't really want them on as i feel it will spoil the look of the car, but living where i do it is more a nessesity.

Trouble is black mudflaps will stick out a mile on a, say, red or silver car. At least on the GTi they look like an extension of the black trim and match the colour of these bits.

You can DEFINATELY get front mud flaps to fit, as the dealer in Aberdeen has them on their demonstrator.

If I can get rears that fit I will have them fitted - the car is grey and you shouldnt notice them too much.  Like everyone says, they save stone chips, and even stop the car getting quite so dirty!
