Hi everyone,
Was wondering if you are able to help me?
I am looking into buying a Golf and have seen one that I really like but need to know which model bla bla bla it is, as when I have funds it will be easier....
I know it is a MK4 Blue, (Java Blue?) Has Black and Blue seats.... I believe I have seen a 1.6 model and the GTi.... I hope the above is enough info to go on.....
I will be after the GTi when I have the funds.
Does the above have a special model name....
Sorry if I sound dumb it's just Dubs are new to me.
Hope you can help and thanks in advance.

Hello & welcome to the site.
Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question!
I think the colour you're referring to is Jazz Blue?? (Kind of a bright blue, but non-metallic looking??)
There are so many models, I don't know where to start, LOL!
Are you looking for performance, economy, manual gearbox etc?
HTH

Hi,
Yes that's the colour, I thought there wouldn't be that many didn't models as I have only seen two for sale....
Well I currently have a 206 1.4 so am looking for a faster car so really am looking into the GTi. It's to be manual as don't like auto's and petrol.
that help? Would I be better finding a pic and posting that up?
Thanks for your quick reply.

So its got to be a diesel?
A Gt tdi then?
Mostly seen those in Silver.
-
so what are you trying to find out what model this blue one is yeah?
Don't the petrol models have the engine size on the engine cover?
also there is a sticker, under the boot liner that will tell you the power in KW so you can work out the engine size from that, it should also tell you the model eg GTI
hope this helps.
Also there are a few different GTI's too, you get the 2.0 petrol, the 1.8T 150, 18.T 180 and the TDI 150PD are quite ofter called GTI obviously the anniversary's are badged GTI too

It's to be manual as don't like auto's and petrol.
i read that as being i don't like automatics and i want a petrol, however it is very ambiguous

Sorry I meant I don't like autos but it has to be a petrol...
ok have found this link for ebay regarding the car in question BUT it doesn't really state what model other than a GTi 1.8 20V...... Or am I being far too picky?

ps also am not sure which is better the 2.0 16v or the 1.8 20v..... I know that the engine size is bigger but then the amount of valves are less.....

Very nice looking car! Go for it!
-
well the 2.0 pet is 115 bhp and its only a GTI in the UK its a GL in europe
the 1.8 is 125 bhp, the 1.8T is 150 or 180 after 2002 i think
both the non turbo (1.8 & 2.0) are group 10 and the 1.8T 14 & 16
if i had to choose a petrol it would be the 1.8T 180, however i'd choose the 150PD over the petrol any day (excluding the V6 4 motion & R32)
-
It has the Recaro's which are nice, but the wheels look like the non-turbo ones, so I'd guess that to be the 125 bhp 1.8 20v GTi (Non-turbo).
Only clear way to tell, is to get the engine code off the seller. This can either be got from the previously mentioned sticker in the spare wheel well (in the boot), or from the engine itself.
If you want any half decent amount of poke, tho, I'd recommend a turbo model.

She's upgrading from a 1.4 Pug so 125bhp will be a vast improvement!

I'd love too but need to sort some other stuff out first. The colour is very much like my 206 at the moment.... I used to hate it but love the colour as not many people modded a 206 in that colour esp a 5dr.... (Yes I'm one of those who have modded a 206 (Not chav tho  ) In my defense it has been tastefully done and now I want power instead of looks...
But that WILL be the car I get next....
Thanks for your advice on the different engine sizes.... I'd like to go fot the Turbo but were see what the insurance company have to say when I have funds for the car....
-
i wouldnt touch that car, its got such a major fault its not worth buying! Cant anyone else see its got too many doors?? five door golfs, not a good thing! if you want five doors get a car which is ment to have them like a leon or bora! lol

Although the Golf would feel like a tank compared to the 206!
-
Yea and we all know that a Mk4 handles worse than a Mk3 barge!
Nowt wrong with 5 doors funky!
-
I kinda need a 5 door due to having lots of kids in the car.... But it all depends how big the 3door is to get car seats in and out.... (shame I have to base my car on my job ).
As a couple have mentioned the golf will be heavy etc.... I considered the 206Gti for about an hour but always kept coming back to the golf.... I have always liked it.
Thanks for your advice and will chat to you all again when i'm nearer to buying it.....
oh it the model I have chosen quite rare? It's just I personally havn't seen one only the one on ebay....
Thanks
