Title: diesel engine conversion
Post by: benji mk2 on 14 March 2007, 22:34
Evenin!

I've been thinking of putting a tdi into the wifes driver. Having done a search i think any of the newer engines are going to be way to much hassle. Does anyone know if the mk3 diesels go in any easier? I know it may seem like sacrilege to some people but having done over 60k in a mk4 diesel i'm starting to become a bit of an oil burner fan! (still gonna put a proper engine in the mk1 tho!)

 Any ideas/info would be sweet!

of the top of my heead im thinking it would work out the same kind of money to buy a diesel outright and sell the gti.. sure is a full system that you'd need to swap over.  am i also thinking the fuel tank on a derv has a return valve so youd need that too?

yeah i kinda thought that would be the reply. Just seems like it would be an interesting project. Car has way to much sentimental value to get rid, as its only a 1.8 driver it chews through fuel like no tommorrow. Like ur sig btw!!!!!!
