Hey peeps, just spent last evening taking wishbones and front brake set up off my 8v GTI, Came to take brake discs off on drivers side, caliper bolts have rounded slightly and are seized, must be previous owner, any body got any ideas how to remove them, they are the allen type.
Also, bought powerflex rear wishbone bushes to fit, found the drivers side front one is knacked too, is it worth uprating those as well or is factory ok?
Cheers.
Matt.

i would upgrade them all with powerflex bushes, and wd40 left to soak overnight then mole grips

Cool cheers mate, can u remove the rubber gaitors from the caliper which cover the bolts or are they bonded?

my caliper bolts were sezied and rounded off as well
ended up hammering a spined drive socket into it (cant think of the size)
then managed to get them out. also did use alot off wd40
then got new bolts from a place hatfield called MURRYS the guy
was very help full.

Thanks guys, got the new bolts in anticipation of this (car has done 2k a year since 97, discs were last changed at VAG in 1994, lol. Have most of the receipts for the car from new) But the passenger side they are siezed in the silver sleeve, can you buy these or do I have to get them in a vice and unscrew the gits?

Hey I thought I'd give an update on this in case anyone has similar troubles, tried everything to get them off, in the end a 12mm impact socket was hammered on and it loosened straight off, fits really well on the bolt head, had to trim the rubber gaitor but will just grease the new bolt lots when it goes in, can recommend this to anyone with a rounded off allen bolt.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

hmm wishbone bushes theres a though, im getting my BBj's changed this coming week (have done new forn bearigns and hubs new apssenger tie rod and end new end drivrs side now 2 new ball joints are gonig in the mixture to completely sort out the front end.. only thing elft is 2 rear bearings, made my car a LOT quieter jsut doing the fronts..)
basically, whats the deal with wishbone bushes, while its all off and about are they worth getting done or will they be easy enough to do another time?

i would do them while they are off and replace with powerflex items
