Title: Hello everybody.

Howdy folks.  My name is John and  i've just bought a 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi 8v.  It's red and quite a clean example.  It's fairly standard except for  15" Borbet Alloys and I think the back lights are different, they're red and black.  It's done 103000 miles.  This is my first Volkswagen.  I thought i'd join this forum because it looked like a great source of information.

Welcome to the forum, you'll find plenty of mk2 info on this forum and plenty of helpful bods if you have any troubles with the car.
The back lights you describe sound like the standard half smoked hella lights. They were standard on 16v models and fitted to the 8v at the end of the production run.
