Title: best oil / oil light flashing

what is the best oil for my mk1 cabby 89 gti     also the oil light flashies when ignition is on but when i start her up the light goes off what could the problem be any ideas as to a fix this problem also how much oil will i need to do a oil change as im doing it this weekend

the light should flash with the ignition on, its normal.  The light warns you that you have low oil pressure, which will be the case when the engine is off ;)

Quantum Synta silver from your dealer, GSF or AVS will be fine, some find it a bit thin but worked great in my 160k GTI engine!
