Title: MFD2 DVD - how/what mp3 device should i connect
Post by: DeejayGti on 07 March 2007, 21:57
Just ordered new ED30. I am planning to buy Sat Nav system from Ebay (DVD type)

I didn't spec the 6 disc cd player as want to buy an MP3 player and connect it into the Sat nav unit directly

Any advice on whats on the market to do this and how best it should be done?

I thought it was a better option than spending £310 on the autochanger?

What would you do?

Hi

I have an 07 GTi and I have just added a MFD2 CD, connecting the VW ipod interface is easy as was my nokia car kit. Then on the MFD2 the ipod appears as the CD multi-changer with CD1-5 being the first 5 ipod play lists and CD6 being all tracks. It does not display the track name when playing the ipod track. I can live with it because I tend to use mine on shuffle/mix anyway.

If you are going the ipod direction there are two vw kits one that goes in the armrest and one that feeds the ipod cable in to the glove box. I have the glovebox version, the armrest one takes up almost all or the storage area in the armrest.

If you are buying a system from ebay, navi555 is reliable at a good price. If its the DVD version look for a newer version that that will play audio cd's as some of the earlier dvd models dont or need a firmware upgrade.

Thats my few cents though I'm sure there will be other opinions.
