Title: My Baby, thieving c**ts
Post by: Ricky_M on 21 February 2007, 17:50
I've been seperated from my baby for 10 months now, due to the sub human scum known as the car thief! Dull f*cker tried nicking a car with half an engine! Payed £105 to get it back, and this is what I face:

Both wigns dented, bonnet dented, windscreen cracked, rear passenger window smashed and the locks done in! The grill has been nicked aswell, I think someone at the compound where the car was stored had away with that!

Title: High pitch noise...like a whistle
Post by: Godzilla on 22 February 2007, 10:01

What could the noise be?

Title: 'Bobbily Suspension'...on Mk3 standard!
Post by: kenji on 22 February 2007, 21:37
Hi Guys,

I'm a bit new to Golfs...so stay with me if you can, please...though, I do know about susses, n' engines, n' stuff !!

My newly aquired Mk3 gti 8v [which I'm sooooo happy with, n' I've said it before!], but...

You Mk3 gti guys out there......you know how the standard suspension seems to 'bobble' around on less-than-flat top going....like it's a bit weak on rebound damping? LIke it can drive you a bit crazy on 'B' roads...though it seems to stiffen up on corners?

Well, my question; does a decent suspension kit, like Koni, sort out the ride....or not?

I mean DOES IT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE to the ride???

KR,

Ken.
Title: exhaust manifold
Post by: vw-bob on 23 February 2007, 13:17
is it possible to do a straight swap on my driver to put on a 8v gti exhaust mainfold? i want to polish it and then run a gti exhaust system. maybe with a aftermarket back box.

my mate has got a mk1 golf and he replaced his mid silencer box with a straight through pipe. is there one for the mk2?
Title: what's this worth?
Post by: sharpie on 24 February 2007, 19:30
full gti interior (3 door), black and grey with chrome bits including door cards?

pretty damn good condition i'd say!

carpets too if theyre worth anything

I'm thinking of stripping out if this will be worth the price of a bucket seat and subframe (!)
Title: M1 travelling last night
Post by: neil_1821 on 26 February 2007, 10:45
Travelling south on the M1 last night i saw a really nice Mk2 golf and was wondering if the owner is registeredon this forum. It looked like a matt green paint job, with a roll cage, was slammed to the floor with withe wall tyres and also had bonnet clips, and i waved at him, so he probably thought i was some weirdo. Although after i overtook him he came flying past, really nice car.

Title: please help a newbie going to look 2moro!!(rocker cover Q.)
Post by: llol_slim on 02 March 2007, 22:01
Hello :-)
Please excuse me having not introduced myself before posting this.
I am going to look at a mk3 gti (92) (8v i think..i forget now, ive looked at SO many!!) tomorrow and spoke to the chap on the phone, sounds good.
its got a full service history (vw dealer for some), mot until august, but if we pay £1000 he will put it through another mot for free.
All sounds very promising. however, (here comes thequestion) he said the "rocker cover gasket is starting to leak"
Now im not overly mechanical (putting it midly :)) and is this a bargaining point or the point where we turn and run?!
Ive googled and looked around the site, people dont seem to have too much of a problem with it, but if im driving it back (80 miles) is it likely to have detrimental damage?
Any explanation very welcomed :-)
Thanks loads in advance
Laurie
Title: mk2 1.6 driver engine
Post by: Turb0_GTi on 03 March 2007, 03:30
hi i have a mk2 golf driver 1.6 with 130k miles on the clock and its getting a bit rattly and smokey (its been ragged for the last 20k miles), it goes for now but i have a spare driver engine with 80k miles on the clock which runs sweet as a nut.
before i put it in i am looking to tune the engine as much as possible while i have some time on it.

basically i want to put an upgraded camshaft kit in it, but while im their i want to gas flow the head and get some stronger valve springs etc.

what i am stuck on is that i have no idea of how much can be done and what is worth doing etc, also choosing a cam and locating valve springs etc, and advice on gasflowing a head :)

i want to keep this car because it has had a lot of my time and money spent on it, i already have some spax suspension and mk3 gti brakes drilled & grooved, gti subframe with antirollbar, urethane bushes all round (well worth the money with hard suspension. i have not had to replace 1 wishbone since i installed them), weber 32/34 dmtr carb conversion, k&n bolt-on - etc etc

basically i want to keep it

any advice?
thanks
Title: RSL Cults, 4x100, 7x13,Et26,
Post by: baz_mk_2 on 04 March 2007, 02:08
Hi guys
RSL Cult Wheels, 4 x 100, 7 x13. ET26
We brought these to go on my cousins new Auto Mk1 (35,000 geuine miles) however its in such good nic and milage wise, its going to be better to refurbish the originals.
One of the wheels was knocked in transit  which really mugged me off   ;)   but no curb marking or anything on the wheel, i think it would be wroth getting a wheel specialised to just straighten it, its not a bad ding as you can see in the bottom picture.

Wheels in guildford/portsmouth, can post
Please email as i dont really check PM's - ebz3@hotmail.com (msn for some web action)

Offers over £250+ these will probably go on the bay at some point as im not sure how much to ask, try me!
With regard to the ding dong ill take these down to my tyre guy and get him to spin it up, its going to be fine though as you can see its just a small flat spot, but better for your peace of mind!

Wheels in good condition, no curbing a few small  lacquer marks around the studs, and polish marks on the lips, your more than welcome to come and view and i will also clean them and take some more pictures for you as these ones are pants and show up all the dirt/grease streaks!
