hi to all,
the electric windows on my golf mk3 gti 8 dont work via the switches inside, but they (& the sunroof) work fine using the key in the passenger side door. the electric mirrors don't work at all either, i haven't really looked into the mirrors much, but id like to get them sorted aswell.
i have replaced both switches (its a 3door) with others that ive seen working and they still don't budge.
the drivers door lock barrel has been 'disconnected' from the mechanism, i believe the previous owner intended to remove key barrels from both sides but never got round to completing the job. so in order to drop or raise the windows, i have to go round to the drivers side door and turn the key till they lower to the desired level. i've checked the fuse box and can't find a fuse for the windows, but the motors and so on obviously work its just that the switches aren't part of the loop for some reason.
any ideas would be great
thanks for your help

wiring issue somewhere?
-
As Allison says its probably a wiring thing. The bloke before probably disconnected something.
Take off the door panels and see if there are any loose wires.
-
also check the wires behind the rubber at the front of the inside of doors as they are known to break .

when you got it did they work ? when mine when i ripped out the old mech replaced it with a new one tried switches still didnt work so i took out the fuse box and some of the dash on the steering wheel side and found one of the earth cables had fallen out put it back in then everything was find apart from my wallet as a new mech cost me about £80 hope you get it sorted
