Title: Panel filter
Post by: sesterfield on 04 March 2007, 15:03
Just bought a Pipercross panel filter for my 16v and stuck it in the car yesterday...took it for a spin today and it "seemed" down on power and idled bit higher, is it possible that the filter is the cause?  I'm pretty sure I fitted it right since I put a K&N panel in my last audi (kjet) and it was fine?

It's possibly just the weather but my paranoid mind has been wandering  :undecided:

Cheers

there isnt an air intake sensor on a MK2 16v, it sounds to me like you need to reset the idle & co thats all :)

Have u drilled your airbox by anychance, just i seem to remember i did the same on my 16v whern i had it,i put the new filter in and took it for a spin,it sounded no fiferent and felt exactly the same as the standard filter, then i drilled the box and wer---hayy lol! instantly more responsive and sounded gr8...just an idea tho obviously..

I haven't, but am considering it.  It's strange but after adding a "free flowing" air filter the car almost feels restrained when accelerating hard

I don't want to mess around too much with the car until at least after this uni term has finished...I need it to keep running to get me to uni every morning!

the problem as you have done that the car will be running lean as more air is getting through in the air/fuel mixture get the co and idle checked as already said and it will probably be better,
