Ello,
i just sold my Tdi Seat leon and bought a mk3 golf as a run around till i can find a car i like. i am looking at caterhams.. but so far nothing has come along thats the spec i am after.
my first car was a golf.. it was tinkered with and modded.. my 2 leons.. all modded.. and i have had this golf a week.. and already i have been buying bits for it. its a 92reg grey thing. TD.. i think theres a whole 75 thundering horses at my command there.. eiher way its not all that fast!
but i will admit.. for a car with 162K on the clock it drives faultlessly! and it handels fine.. even managed to get the back out the other day!
so basically.. what can i do to make it more fun.. put a few more horses in the barn so to speak! i am very much up on my modern derv modding.. but ones like this you cant just roll up to REVO and say.. "ello boys.. plug n play"
:D
Edit:
also, does this car have a serial port.. if so where is it.. and how can i get to it. wouldnt mind running vag-com on it for humour value.

it probably has the 2x2 socket hidden around the ashtray mate. I have a 95 gti and it has the 16 pin obdII socket but not sure about the earlier ones, defo obdI so would probably need a 2x2 adapter cable for vag-com, depending on the interface you have.
Nuthin wrong wi TDi tuning either lol great fun burning off some spotty kid in a clio / corsa / nova wi a diseasel

:)
i currently have the vag lead which fits all the audi/golfs/seats i have put it in.. but they have all been within 5 years old.
i used to love my seat, 252lbs of torque... lets put it this way i had a very expensive tyre bill. :D
i am wondering whats going to go first.. the clutch, the engine.. or the whole car in to a fence. :|

Welcome to the Sailing Section Georgie!
Heavy clutch foot eh?
If the engine is still in good condition then with a Turbo diesel I believe you can do all sorts of Mods to increse power, mainly ECU/remapping work, so relatively easy.
Post some pics when ya can, always nice to hear from a young lady!

it needs a propper clean. it even has some finger print dust on it.. :s
will give it a GJOB this weekend and make it gleam.
and then run it down B roads at night!
the cars is a little noisy.. sounds like a old derv.. but wha do you expect.
and i dont have a heavy right foot  it just spazams sometimes and gets stuck.. in short.. its a digital foot.
dont want to spend to much on it.. as it really is meant to be the sensible shed option but a few hunred here and there wont be missed. but as i said in my top post, i am looking at buying a caterham so this golf is meant to be the reliable one!

Sopent Wed nigth giving mine the gleam treatment and its come up fantastic - good luck with yours
