Title: hi everyone
Post by: lewis1641 on 28 February 2007, 13:05
hope I'm doing this right - i have never used a forum before and seem to be allergic to computers.

this is a quick intro to me. i am a vw nut through and through. started playing with beetles at 13 and have owned many in my time(now 28) none have been show cars but all have been cool and some even fast. bought my first golf gti a few years back (1985 5 door 8 valve rip) and missed it since the day it was no more.

this christmas i was chatting with a mate who does track days and we decided to buy a car on a low budged to track days in. there are 3 of us involved and we wanted something street legal and cheap. we set a budget of £1000 th buy and insure the car. obviously we chose a golf gti and last week we became the proud owners of a 1987 3 door 8 valve in black. it has 6 months test and set us back £160 and has performed faultlessly in the last week.  it seems to be a good start to the venture.  thats the project so far. we know its not going to tear up any strips but we wanted cheap and fun and i think we have bucketloads of both. cheers.
