Title: thiking about leaving you guys (again!) wel sort of...
Post by: rowlers on 27 February 2007, 19:49
After all the greif my valver has giving me over the last few weeks (and all the greif off the wife!) and the pound notes it is costing me, I'm considering giving up on the MK2 scene and investing in a MK3 VR6!...

I know I won't get all my cash back on the valver, but the prospect of forking out the coin constantly is starting to get to me...  and the constant weekends in the garage

Who knows the VR6 may cost me a fortune to keep
What do you chaps reckon.. I'll leave it up to you lot

Well it's good that you're not breaking it, but i wouldn't have minded some panels and bumpers! What exactly is going wrong then?

brakes, keep getting wrong suspension springs sent, my gas flowed head and cams doesn't perform as I think it should, don't ahve the money to get it rolling road tuned properly etc....
don't have the time, and more importantly the cash to do what I really want to do with it.... it has lots of potential and I guess I want it perfect overnight

Oh I don't know what to do, I'm in no rush to sell and buy a VR6, maybe just wait and save as mich cash as I can for a Mk4 1.8t!

who knows!

Thats what its all about. Replacing the old parts with new. Just need to keep on top of it. A pain I know but worth it!

If youve had enough get shot of it! give it 3/4 months and review the situation, nothing worse than heamoraging money just to keep the boat afloat, let alone sailing in it!
youll feel better for doing it, and if you decide to have another go, youll look forward to finding something better..

The thing that always puts me off getting rid of mine when it goes wrong is that the whole thing could start all over again with whatever car you get next. That might be more to do with my budget though!

thats the thing that bugs me.

A VR6 is still going to be an old car, with many of the same problems, at least I know where I am with my valver - better the devil you know and all that!!!

You're right I'll keep it for now, Its still a scream to drive, esp when you get above 5k, then the piper cams seem to come into their own

I think holding on to it will be the best bet, its seems to me that when you spend money on a car and it still goes wrong you start to feel like its never gonna end (I know when something goes wrong and I get in a p!ss about it I start to feel like the cars doing it just to p!ss me off ) but whats the point of putting loads of time, effort and not to mention money into a car to then go and sell it after you've cured most of the problems.

You're all probably right!

If I were to tot up all that I've spent on it, it would convince me to keep it, its part and parcel of owning a 17 yr old car I supposed!

keep it then eh!

I'm saving up for a RR tune then, will let you know it comes off!
