Thanks Andy.
The way to stop this should you decide - is to saw the button tops off - push them down then saw them flush wi the surface.
Thats how fordie owners got around it. Cant pull em if the arent sticking up lol
The aforementioned "opening a golf wi no keys and not breaking anything" technique is priveledged information and will from now on be only shared wi members wi at least 100 posts as they have been around here for a while and are not so likely to steal yer stereo lol
After all - it works wi a lot of different cars and shouldnt really be passed around.

i agree with evilscotsman :lipsrsealed:

Just a thought.
With a high number of car jacking these days, and you lock the doors whilst driving, if you chopped off the button flush with the surface when its down, how do you get them back up to let yourself out?

Open the window and use the key to open from outside...Lol
-
that will be a bit of a pain having to open the window all the time.
-
can someone pm me with how its done? some little chav screwdrivered my handle on tuesday, couldnt get in that way, so smashed the window!! needless to say the stereo was gone. so im just wondering what the 'proper' way is!

Opening sawn down buttons :
The buttons should pop up if you pull the door catch from the inside - have to try that tomorrow. It does on other cars so you can't lock yourself in.
-
Not on my 97 mk3 16v it doesn't.
-
ahh ok guess not then lol.
Ok fit smooth buttons you can still pull with your fingers...then you dont need to cut them down.
