Title: Scraping noise when steering?
Post by: mutant on 24 February 2007, 12:11
There is a scraping noise when i steer, this hasn't happened long and only appears to be when going slowly, parking speeds etc, but i  dont know what it is.  It's audible from outside the car, and sounds as though its coming from the drivers side wheel arch, although there is nothing that i can see that would cause any rubbing.

Any ideas?

Thanks Lee

Most likely canditates are worn pads/discs, CV joint, ropey track rod end or bust wheel bearing.

Jack up the likely side and free rotate the wheel when someone turns it - either lock will probably sound the worst. If you have lateral movement it's the bearing but it would more likely make a noise all the time.
