Title: Suspension Mods...what works?????
Post by: kenji on 22 February 2007, 23:07
Hi Guys,

I'm a bit new to Golfs...so stay with me if you can, please...though, I do know about susses, n' engines, n' stuff !!

My newly aquired Mk3 gti 8v [which I'm sooooo happy with, n' I've said it before!], but...

You Mk3 gti guys out there......you know how the standard suspension seems to 'bobble' around on less-than-flat top going....like it's a bit weak on rebound damping? LIke it can drive you a bit crazy on 'B' roads...though it seems to stiffen up on corners...so chucking into corners is no probs?

Well, my question is; if I'm a bit disatisfied with the standard susses' habits in 'bobbling' around on the bumps, does a decent suspension kit, like Koni, REALLY sort out the ride....or not?

I mean DO THEY REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE to the ride, n' worth the cost???

I dunno' cos I've never been there...you guy's have fitted the sus mods....what do you really think? Have they improved things?

KR,

Ken.

I've just got some Eibach sport springs (eBay) and Boge turbo gas shocks (GSF). The ride is much better and much more positive around corners etc without being too harsh. It doesn't have the 'boat' handling anymore which is the main thing!
