Title: Plastic sill skirts! Rusty!
Post by: mattosmoknd on 20 February 2007, 15:38
Hi guys,
On my mk3 gti my plastic sill skirts have started to peel away a little and underneath there is a skinny piece of metal that has gone rusty... Do these skirts just pull off? How do you replace them and where do you get them from for cheap (but new)?
cheers
matt

Takes about 30 seconds to pull the strip off and replace, I got mine from a scrap yard. Theyr'e a bit flimsy to have posted!

I had the same problem. The skirts come in 3 pieces mate you only need the long top strip, the two lower parts of the skirts are plastic. I paid £25 for all 3 parts on one side. I've still got 2 parts sat in my garage!

I have the same on my GTI,

do you have to take off the plastic wheel arch trims to get the sill strip off?

No need to remove the wheel arch trim's and give euro car parts a call as that's where nine's from and was just a bit cheaper than vdub.... only thing is they won't post them..

Just bought the drivers side one, cost me £25 from VW main dealer, will fit it this weekend I guess it just clips on.

yep, you just have to undo one bolt on the end cap at the front wheel arch end then it just pulls of. Easiest job I've done on mine so far
