As title says, got a leak, its not coolent and its not engine oil, seems to be below gearbox/powersteering resovoir...notice 2-3 new drops on the ground every day. If its a gearbox leak does that mean its screwed? i take symtoms would be heavy powerstearing if it was leaking and crunchy gears if it was from the gearbox? any ways to tell for sure apart from getting the car on a ramp?

What colour is it? Does it small rank?
-
Seems clear but very slightly oily...doesnt seem to have a smell...if it smelt bad it would be gearbox oil right..?
-
Yeah. Box oil is rank! Try tasting a tiny drop of it. Coolant smells very very sweet! PS fluid is black normally after a bit of use...
-
Mmmmmm leaky fluid....thatll be my lunch then......wouldnt coolent be coloured, mine is blue in the expansion tank..?
-
You dont say what surface - concrete, tarmac, whatever.
Most fluids look black on either of those unless you have a major puddle.
All you can do is get underneath and check all hoses and connections. Try running the engine whilst you look and perhaps get another person to move steering wheel and change gears. Best if on a set of ramps. If you still cant see anything then put a piece of cardboard under the car.

paving slabs...when i touch it the residue on my hand seems clear...but its def a leak of some sorts...will try the cardboard thing..

Concrete then!
If its clear on your hand then I'd say its coolant.
