Title: 160mph clocks on a 8v digi?
Post by: Godzilla on 18 February 2007, 20:36
My 8v digi has 160mph clocks. Im sure the 8v digi came with 140mph clocks? I know the old 8v's used to be 120mph. Question is.....what clocks should it have as in mph? Its a 1990 8v Digifant.

Mines a 91 and it has the 140 clocks but I don't think it matters as long as the speedo cable drive gear is the correct one for those clocks !

Mine originally had 120 clocks, but swapped 'em for 160's.
120's and 160's apparently use the same drive gear.
Hope that helps?

how do you find out what clocks should have come in the car as mine is a 1990 8v digi and it has 160 clocks and how do you find out if the drive gear has been changed also if driving at 30 would this put you over or under the limit if it has the wrong drive gear and by how much cheers

What about the revs as the redline on a 16valve starts at 7000 and a 8 valve at 6000rpm?

What about the revs as the redline on a 16valve starts at 7000 and a 8 valve at 6000rpm?

I made a custom unit using the rev counter from the 120 clocks (standard 8v) and the 160 mph odometer !

ive had a 87 8v kjet with 140 mph clocks a 89 and 91 8v digifant both with 120 clocks ive heard they done it so no one would notice the digifant cars were slower dont know if its true or not but in my case the kjet 8v was quicker
